| The Michigan Mustangs' Showdown Derrick Rose Express 17u, Team Legion 16u, and Team Detroit 15u win 4/12/09 Rochester, MI.- The Oakland University and Oakland Community College provided quality courts for the Michigan Mustangs' Showdown in Motown and the tournament was successful as 48 teams from Illinois, Canada, Ohio, and of course Michigan competed for championships in three age groups. | Grand Rapids Storm Classic 4/14/09 Grad Rapids, MI.- The Grand Rapids Storm Classic finally got a break and could emerge as one of the top tournament's in the mid-west as there are no certified events this April. 96 teams from the Midwest will compete on the 14u-17u age groups each with their own championship trophy. | Grand Rapids Storm Classic 2009 4/20/09 Inside Prep Sports.net IPS Reporters Grand Rapids, MI.- The Grand Rapids Storm Classic became Michigan's premier tournament as they brought in almost 100 teams from mostly Michigan but surrounding states as well in the 14u-17u age group. There were also a handful of little kids running around in the younger age groups building a strong future for the Classic. | Tulip Tip Off 5/7/09 Holland, MI. - The West Michigan Lakers are hosting their 4th annual Tulip Tip Off at West Ottawa High School and surrounding facilities. The three day event is May 8-10 with 17u, 16u, and 15u programs featuring some of the best talent across the state. | Camp Darryl Classic 5/18/09 www.insideprepsports.net www.highmajorscoop.com Kalamazoo, MI.- Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo College, and surrounding schools provided gyms for over 70 A.A.U. teams from Michigan and Ohio in the 8th annual Camp Darryl Classic. There were some great match-ups in pool play and the tournament's three champions on the 17u, 16u, and 15u level have found that winning is contagious. Congratulations to the W. MI. Lakers 17u team whose defense was key in their undefeated weekend for the second weekend in a row. Team Legion's 16u squad added their second championship of the season with a balanced line-up that features several division one prospects. | Inside Prep Sports' Border Battle All-Team 6/5/09 Toledo, OH.- The inaugural Inside Prep Sports' Border Battle presented itself as one of the top tournaments in the Mid-West as over 100 teams participated in the three day event. The University of Toledo's Savage Arena was the home base for the I.P.S. Border Battle with their Recreation Center, the Steve Mix Basketball Academy, and Perrysburg High School serving as alternate locations. The talent that took the floor this last weekend of May was as good as one will find from any tournament of its size. Lansing, MI.- Gloom stunned Michigan State's Team Shootout Friday night and sorrow was evident as the passing of Saginaw’s Dorian Dawkins, son of Saginaw High’s head coach Lou Dawkins, spread. Basketball’s sub-culture embraced Dorian, an incoming freshman to Saginaw High, who was also a brother, a son, a teammate, a friend too many, and so much more.
