Kalamazoo, MI.- Dayton is no stranger to Michigan when it comes to recruiting and they have landed another from the Great Lake State.

Kalamazoo Central’s 6’6 2010 wing Devin Oliver has made a name for himself over the last year and a half as his game has risen to new heights.  He’s developed his skill set and shooting as well as three inches on the height chart over that time period.  He’s a smooth lefty who went to Michigan’s Class A state championship last season and played for the Camp Darryl Basketball Academy prior to the Michigan Mustangs over the last two A.A.U. seasons.

Inside Prep Sports caught up with the Maroon Giants’ Oliver soon after today’s call to the Dayton staff and he said this about his future coaches and school, “BG (Head Coach Brian Gregory) and coach Mann (Assistant Cornell Mann).  They have so much credibility and I know that are going to harness all my skills to make me a better player.  I feel like family with them and I can only get better if I go there.  The academics as well and the upside of the program, we are only going up.”

The lefty wing chose Dayton over Iowa, Western Michigan, Butler and Southern Methodist.  Michigan, Stanford, and Wisconsin also showed interest.

Dayton has many ties to Michigan as head coach Brian Gregory was an assistant at Michigan State under Tom Izzo, assistant Cornell Mann was an assistant in Kalamazoo at Western Michigan, and assistant coach Jon Borovich played high school basketball at Birmingham Seaholm followed by a scholarship to Central Michigan before coaching with Oakland University.  6’8 power forward Devin Searcy (Romulus ’07) and 6’3 shooting guard Paul Williams (Detroit Renaissance ’08) are also on the Flyer squad.
