Dayton, OH.- This afternoon Dayton Jefferson’s 6’11 senior center Adreian Payne announced what many of the countries top programs have waited at least a year for, whose scholarship will he accept.

When you play for the countries best A.A.U. team over the last three years, when you’re athletic and run like a deer, and when you’re 6’11 people will take notice…especially college coaches.  It boiled down to Kentucky, West Virginia, and Michigan State.  Kentucky has tradition.  He visited West Virginia for their midnight madness.  Michigan State has dipped into Ohio two of the last three years and the Spartans made it a three of four when the commitment from Payne.

The Spartans 2010 recruiting class is one of the best classes Tom Izzo has brought in as he starts his 15th year as Michigan State’s head coach.

Payne joins 6’ combo guard Keith Appling (Detroit Pershing), 6’7 small forward Russell Byrd (Ft. Wayne Blackhawk Cristian, IN.), and 6’10 power forward Alex Gauna (Eaton Rapids, MI.).

I.P.S. caught up with Appling and his comment on the Payne signing was upbeat, “It’s great.  We’re definitely gonna win a National Championship.”
