Lansing, MI.- Eight seniors are highlighted in the next round of evaluations from Inside Prep Sports' Super 80 from last Sunday.

6'6 2010 forward Austin Barnes (Lansing Waverly) is one of the state's most intriguing seniors as his first year of high school basketball was last year.  Prior to that he was a hockey player but a serious growth spurt a couple of years ago led him to the hard court.  Barnes is long, athletic and still raw but the upside is there as he does have coordination.  He doesn't have much of a post game and seemed most comfortable shooting mid-range jumpers.

6'5 2010 wing Tim Bates (Detroit Douglas) is perhaps the best player Division I recruit coaches outside of Michigan don't know about.  He has the ability to play either guard positions while providing the height and length to play the small forward position on the next level.  He was solid in all the drills and was a key player in "Penn State" the gray team's success.  Bates also has a qualifying ACT score.

6'3 2010 wing Deon Butler (Inkster) handles the ball a lot better than what I previously gave him credit for not doing.  His high motor, athleticism, and defense will have GLIAC coaches watching his progress whenever he's on the court.  The lefty does need to work on his perimeter game and continue to improve his ball-handling skills.

6'2 2010 guard Kenny Harper (Oak Park) will combine with Jalen Crawford to form Michigan's most athletic backcourt combination.  He consistently knocked down the mid-range jumper in shooting drills and his chances of earning a Division II scholarship will only increase as his perimeter game progresses.

6'11 2010 center John Hawkins (Troy) has some meat on his frame and will gain more attention from Division 2 programs as he spends time in the gym working on his post play.  While he's not a jaw dropping athlete he is able to get up and down the floor but improving his hands will turn the present Division 3 offers he has know into GLIAC/Division II offers and maybe more.

6'5 2011 forward Dennis Hogan (Detroit Douglas) is evolving from an undersized power forward into a somewhat under sized small forward that will take him to the next level.  No one will doubt his effort as he crashed the boards with determination during the camp's games.  Hogan like many others in the camp will benefit from working on the ball-handling drills that were taught at the camp and continue to work on his mid-range shooting.

6'5 2010 power forward Derek Klein (Ostego) has a solid frame and is a decent athlete.  He's a face up four man with the ability to put the ball on the floor.  He was solid throughout the drills on Sunday and showed solid footwork in the post while working with former Spartan DuJuan Wiley.  Playing on the Division I level might be a stretch for Klein but there's no doubt that GLIAC/Division II programs will continue to follow him throughout his senior year in high school.

6'5 2010 small forward Josh Lyle (Bloomfield Hills Lahser) lacks a strong post game but showed that he can score in a variety of ways when facing the basket.  He has a solid mid-range jumper and was solid getting to the basket when going right in game play.  Improving his perimeter game and spending time developing his left hand will determine if he is more than a Low Division I/GLIAC player.

6'8 2011 center/power forward Donald Owens (Inkster) is an improving post player and looks stronger than what he did five months ago.  He's long and a quality athlete who needs to work on his hands and foot work like most post players his age.  He should get plenty of looks this high school season as Inkster has seniors and juniors worthy of Division One looks.

6'1 2010 guard Chene Phillips (Detroit Renaissance) is a young senior who has made the leap from a Division III/NAIA player a year ago to one that is gaining the attention of GLIAC programs.  He's a solid guard, who shot the ball well in camp, and showed the ability to handle the ball well albeit preferring to use his right-hand. He's just tapped his athletic abilities as he is coming very close to finishing above the rim.

6'6 2010 power forward Jesse Shienke (L'anse Creuse North) wears 230-pounds well and wasn't bashful in the post or hitting the boards during Sunday's games.  He finished well and worked hard in the post for position even though the young guards on his Northwestern (purple) team didn't always feed him the ball.  Developing a mid-range jumper and more face up moves will expand this sleepers recruiting from Division III/NAIA to Division II.
