Super 80 IV

Inside
Prep Sports
Lansing,
MI.- Ten seniors from the Inside Prep Sports' Super 80 are reviewed in this
fourth edition. These players stood out
in one form or another:
6'2
2010 shooting guard Joe Blanchett (Owosso) has Division 3 and NAIA programs
that would love to have him on their squad next year while Division 2 programs
play the waiting game. He shot the ball
well from the perimeter and his ball handling is better than it was a year ago
at I.P.S.' GVSU Camp.
6'2
2010 shooting guard Conor Boyle (Rochester Adams) sets his feet well and showed
consistency when shooting from the perimeter.
His jumper was respected by teammates as they looked for him on the wing
where he often came through with points. Boyle is another player that I'd like
to see practice pump fakes, take a dribble either left or right, and the let it
rip. He's a great student and playing
on the next level will be in his cards.
6'6
2010 power forward Connor Clarke (Parma Western) performed well in post drills
and shot the ball well in Cam Nichols (Detroit Renaissance Head Coach) shooting
drills. Clarke has a decent frame and
hitting the weight room could expand his recruiting. He's a decent athlete who will benefit from working on his guard
skills.
6'6
2010 small forward Kalen Foreman (Allen Academy) is long, lanky, and a 16-year
old senior. He might grow another
couple of inches, as his parents aren't vertically challenged. The lefty wasn't shy about where his bread
and butter on the offensive end comes from as he knocked down plenty of
mid-range jumpers while popping out deep a couple of times.
5'9
2010 point guard Bobby Naubert (Livonia Stevenson) has decent size and
dispersed the ball to cutting wings or open shooting guards on the
perimeter. He was solid in the
ball-handling drills and made the right decisions without a lot of flair. At least one NAIA school contacted Naubert
after the camp and he'll visit their campus in the near future.
5'9
2010 combo guard Andrew Scarton (Flat Rock) might be vertically challenged but
he has springs in his legs, which he showed off in warm ups. He got to the basket well when going right
and working on going left should start to get him looks from Division 2
programs. Scarton balances scoring and
passing well without forcing either issue.
6'3
2010 wing/shooting guard Nate Schmidt (Ypsilanti Lincoln) is strong and
starting to take advantage of mismatches in the post. He pivoted well and used the glass frequently as the campers were
instructed in drills. The lefty also
likes to pop out and show that he can hit jumpers from the mid-range and
beyond. Schmidt does need to work on
more wrist action as the revolutions on his jumper can be counted. He's also a solid student with a nice ACT
score.
6'4
2010 small forward Aaron Cleland (Waterford De La Salle) reported the highest
ACT score of all campers, 29, which is sure to turn the heads of any
school. Cleland is one for Division 3
and NAIA programs to keep an eye on as he has fundamentals in the Greg Esler
(DLS Head Coach) tradition. He's more
of a face up forward who would benefit from working on drills to turn his
explosiveness up a notch.
6'3
2010 wing/shooting guard Mike Puzzuoli (Sterling Heights Stevenson) is a
smaller version of Nate Schmidt as he can use strength to bully smaller
defenders in the post. He also likes to
shoot it from the perimeter and did so effectively in drills and in games. While he's a qualifier, improving his test
score will boost his recruiting.
6'8
2010 center Alex DeBack (Charlotte) was the biggest player at the camp and
showed better footwork than his girth suggests. DeBack effectively finished with a nice touch in drill work and
also got up and down the court well. He
uses his mitts…err hands well as he absorbed rebounds and entry passes.
