Detroit, MI.- Open gyms are abundant in Michigan and Inside Prep Sports is stopping in to catch an early preview of the best teams and players around.  This Monday I.P.S. stopped by Detroit Country Day and had a chance to catch up with one of the premier players in the Great Lakes State.

6'2" point guard Ray McCallum, jr. was a welcome addition to Michigan's 2010 class a year ago and he bolstered Country Day's high major lineup that seemed primed to win the state's Class B championship.  Country Day came up short in the playoffs as they lost to the eventual state champion, Flint Powers, in the quarterfinals.  McCallum is hungry for a state title and will more than likely have a chance to avenge last year's season ending loss.

The future high-major college player will more than likely end up a finalist for Michigan's Mr. Basketball award, the Detroit Free Press' award for the state's best senior.  But before any awards are decided and champions are crowned, McCallum will jump on a plane a few times in October.

He's scheduled official visits to UCLA on October 3rd, Florida on October 17th and Arizona on October 30th.  Those schools along with the University of Detroit, where his dad is the head coach, seem to be front runners as of now.  When will a decision be made?  Inside Prep Sports will let you know when it happens.
