Rochester, MI.- The Oakland University and Oakland Community College provided quality courts for the Michigan Mustangs' Showdown in Motown and the tournament was successful as 48 teams from Illinois, Canada, Ohio, and of course Michigan competed for championships in three age groups.  There was plenty of talent on these teams and some of the nation's most desired players.

 

 Here are the winners:

 

17u Championship: Derrick Rose Express 81 MI. Mustangs 73

Players with verbal commitments: Mustangs' 6'2 guard Keith Appling '10 (Michigan State, Express' 6' guard Tracy Abrams '11 (Illinois), Express' 6' guard Ryan Boright '11 (Southern Cal).

 

16u Championship: Team Legion 70 Derrick Rose Express 54

Notable Players: Legion's 5'11 guard Patrick Lucas-Perry '11, Legion's 6'7 forward Dan Chilcotte '11, Legion's 6'4 Kelin McCormick '12, Express' 6' guard Qua Pearson '11, and others

 

15u Championship: Team Detroit 70 Michigan Mustangs 66

Notable Players:  Team Detroit's 6'4 forwards Ryan and Dillon Hickoff '12, Team Detroit's 6' guard Daniel Boseman '12, Mustangs' 6'4 wing Marques Mondy '12, Mustangs' 5'10 point guard Chris Hass '12, and others..

 

Each team's pool play record was used for seeding in a single game elimination tournament. The tournament provided plenty of great games where high school teammates squared off, as well as high school rivalries which carried over to the A.A.U. season.
